5 Ways to Slow Down and Embrace Autumn

Even our warm weather lovers can’t deny the pleasure that Fall brings. More than any other season, fall encompasses that feeling of comfort which can only be found in the warmth of hearth and togetherness. So we bring out the blankets, wrap ourselves in cozy sweaters, and pour a seasonal drink amidst the falling leaves as we prepare for the cold days ahead. When balancing work, family, social life, and more, it is easy to let the seasons slip away. From the wonderful crisp air, beautiful change of colors, and all the delicious fall foods that you can make, there are countless ways to slow down and enjoy the fall season to the fullest. Here are some of our favorites.

Add Fall Touches To Your Home:

Decorate your home with fall decor. Fall florals, a seasonally-inspired table, warm and earthy tones are all easy ways to do this. There is a very real satisfaction of carving out a comfy space for yourself to burrow into throughout the chillier fall months. Surround yourself with fall accents in your home that ooze hygge. Try one of our handcrafted wood centerpieces, oversized throw pillows, or cozy blankets to add that extra fall feel to your home.

Fall Spices For The Win:

Cinnamon, clove, ginger, - if you add any of these to your fall baking you’re off to a good start! Not only do they taste delicious, they make your house smell good too! Pumpkin bread, apple pie, apple cider donuts, pumpkin pancakes (drizzle honey on top from our honey sampler set) the list goes on and on! Not a fan of sweets? Bust out the crock pot and try a new soup. From butternut squash to a hearty stew, you can never have enough soup on hand as the temperatures begin to drop. Fall flavors help get you into that Autumn time spirit!

Bring The Seasonal Change Of The Outdoors In:

One way to really appreciate this time of year is to envelop yourself in its season inspired scents. Try a simmer pot. Fill a large pot about three-quarters full with water and add any mixture of fall-inspired scents- cinnamon sticks, orange peels or slices, lemon peels or slices, cranberries, cloves, star anise, vanilla, apples or apple juice, pine needles, etc. You can't go wrong!

Light a fall scented candle or diffuse essential oils. The Life has a curated collection of the most satisfying fall scents. Try our Cabin Retreat or Autumn Woods candles. Woody, heady, and rich are just a few words that come to mind when we think of the soothing scents of Fall.

Get Outside:

Enjoy the cooler temps and take a morning walk, jump in a pile of leaves or tackle a corn maze at a local farm! Getting outside is always good for your mental health and moving your body is an added bonus! Our personal favorite fall activity is hiking. Try grabbing a camera and snap some shots of the fiery colors of fall foliage. Apple or pumpkin picking is a perfect family friendly way to get outdoors and soak in the festivities of fall. Try a local farmers market. The memories we associate with the change of seasons are what make it pleasurable so get out there, have some fun and breath in that brisk crisp air!

Indulge In Your Desire to Hibernate:

Set aside time each week to curl up with a good book and a cozy blanket and just relax! Taking time to simply stop and smell the roses (or in this case the pumpkin spice) is so important. With shorter days and colder temps we all find ourselves yearning for a cuddly couch and warm fire. Go ahead and hibernate for a few!
